Drew Barrymore gave birth to her second child, daughter Frankie, in April. Daughter Olive is just two years old. Family comes first for the actress, but she’s acting less these days in order to spend time with her family. Drew also talked about her post-pregnancy weight, although she doesn’t appear to give it too much thought. She claims it’s all part of getting her priorities straight.
In a conversation with People magazine at the Refinery29 L.A. Holiday Party last week, Drew explained a bit about that prioritization.
“The acting has to be less and less because it’s too time-consuming. I love it and I don’t want to abandon it, but it can’t be at the forefront right now,” Barrymore explained, adding just how much she loves her cosmetics line, Flower Beauty, “because it allows [her] to be a great mom.”
“It’s a balance of who gets the attention, and it’s a tightrope,” she adds. “But it’s also a wonderful, amazing journey to raise two kids that love each other.”
Drew Barrymore is just now–eight months following Frankie’s birth–thinking about shedding some of those pregnancy pounds.
“It took nine months to build. It should take nine months to get off,” she said. “I wanted fettuccini alfredo. I didn’t want a barbell.”
“I was like, ‘Don’t talk to me about how fast and fabulous you are or it came off. That was not my experience. I’m having to work my ass off until I even think about getting it off.”
Drew brought both Olive and Frankie to a recent charity event in L.A., where they joined Jessica Alba and her children in support of Baby2Baby, a charity that provides items for children in low-income families.

Kudos to Drew Barrymore for working less and spending more time with her daughters and her husband, Will Kopelman. She will never regret the time taken for her family, as well as the time spent helping others.
And as for that plate of fettucine Alfredo? Maybe she should have just one more serving. She can start losing that baby weight when everyone else hops on the fitness bandwagon–at the first of the year.
When you compare Drew Barrymore to so many Hollywood moms who start starving themselves just weeks after their babies are born in order to look good for the camera–it’s plain to see she has her act together. Her children and her husband will likely thank her one day for being so grounded in a world where so many others aren’t.
