Facebook announced some lighthearted, holiday-themed updates for its Messenger app, which actually includes a new standalone app for stickers to be sent through Messenger.

“The holidays are an important time for people to be connected with their friends and family and Messenger is an easy way to coordinate activities and keep in touch,” Facebook says.

One update is a “festive frame” for New Year’s Eve selfies. Then there are snow globe chat heads and holiday-inspired sticker packs.

The new app is from Facebook Creative Labs (which is responsible for Slingshot). It’s called Stickered for Messenger, and it lets you add stickers to photos and send them to people through Messenger. They don’t explain why this has to be a separate app, but hey, Facebook is all about some separate apps these days, aren’t they?

The Android version is available in Google Play, and the iOS one should be in the App Store soon.

In other news, reports are once again surfacing that teens don’t find Facebook cool anymore.
