Meredith Vieira has purchased a penthouse in the famed El Dorado building in New York City for a tidy sum. While it still hasn’t been divulged exactly what the former Today Show host paid for her new digs, the asking price was $8.55 million. Her new place features three bedrooms and four bathrooms, and two large planted terraces. It will afford her and hubby, news producer Richard Cohen, a view of the Central Park reservoir.

The host of The Meredith Vieira Show will move in to recently renovated accommodations that haven’t been lived in since work was completed. She and Cohen will enter their new abode via an elevator that opens into a private landing. The penthouse also features a “loft-like” living room, formal dining room, oak floors, a two-sided wood-burning fireplace, and 10-foot ceilings. The master suite features a large dressing area–perfect for the on-air personality. An eat-in chef’s kitchen tops off the fine amenities.

Lest one think Meredith Vieira is all about wealth and fine accommodations, do note that this same woman made friends with Marilyn Ram’s kindergarten class in Teaneck, New Jersey this fall–adopting them for the entire school year. She recently checked back in on ‘her’ kids and talked with them about spreading holiday cheer and goodwill.

According to the New York Post, Macy’s and Make-A-Wish are celebrating the seventh year of the Believe Campaign. Beginning in November, believers of all ages brought their stamped letter addressed to Santa at The North Pole into Macy’s. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1,000,000.

“The crew came in and asked the class to write wishes for the holidays,” Ram said. “I had them think of three wishes prior to them writing: one for themselves, one for someone else, and one for the world.”

Meredith Vieira hand-delivered the kindergartners’ letters herself to the Macy’s Believe mailbox. The class then went back to the studio on December 3rd for a live taping–their second trip to the studio. During the show, lifestyle expert, Meredith Sinclair, shared the Ultimate Gift Guide for kids this holiday season.

The Bryant School kindergarten class, as well as each of the audience members went home with all of the gifts featured on the show. The gifts included an American Girl Doll, a LEGO Fusion Town Master set, a Strawberry Shortcake Singing Doll, a Hubsan X4 Mini Quadcopter, and a LeapPad3″ Wi-Fi Tablet. The show aired on December 9th.

“The footage from the classroom where the children were writing their wishes was shown, as well as their reaction and surprise when they received the gifts,” Ram said. “The children were very surprised when Meredith said they were getting all of the gifts. It was very generous and my children and their families are very appreciative.”

Meredith Vieira and her staff plan to visit her adopted kindergarten class once a month for the rest of the school year, with many more projects planned.

Do you suppose she will invite the kids to check out her new place at the El Dorado? Is it set up for hosting multiple servings of cookies and milk?
