Nicole Kidman says she is happier person today than ever.

In an interview on Tuesday with Matt Lauer for Today, the Paddington actress said life is very different now, especially after moving to Nashville with husband Keith Urban in 2006.

Lauer questioned Kidman on a statement her friend Sheryl Crow made for Elle Magazine in regards to Nicole’s reputation for being “icy” because she is always “so poised.” Kidman said her reputation partly stems from the roles she chooses, but also attributes her “icy” reputation to her innate shyness that can make her seem standoffish.

“I am very shy, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve lost some of that shyness,” she said. “And I laugh a lot more now. I’m happier.”

Kidman, who was on the show promoting her new film Paddington, said she loves the movie because it embraces values like “kindness to strangers” and “kindness to others.”

Kidman couldn’t help but gush on her life in Nashville, where the simplicity of their world with their daughters, six-year-old Sunday and two-year-old Faith, is everything she’s always dreamed of.

“We have a very easy, warm, peaceful life,” she said. “That’s something I’ve always wanted and was heading towards, but didn’t know how to find it. I’ve found it now.”

“We are so blessed and we laugh a lot and play a lot,” Kidman said of the man she decided she wanted to marry after dating for only a month. “I just laugh.”
