Katie Holmes apparently left Busy Philipps, one of her closest friends and her Dawson’s Creek co-star, high and dry after she met and married Tom Cruise.
Many friendships, especially between stars who work together for years, fizzle slowly and come to and end. Or the status of a friendship changes from real life friends to Facebook friends.
But, with Katie Holmes’ friendship with Busy Philipps, it seems there is a definite date to pinpoint.
That would be when Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise after their short, whirlwind romance.
Busy Philipps was on Watch What Happens Live when she was asked if she kept in touch with Katie Holmes after Dawson’s Creek.
She said she had no idea what was going on with Katie Holmes all of a sudden.
“I left her several voicemail messages,” Philipps said.
She added, “I just remember when it happened and I was like, ‘Are you on a plane in San Francisco with Tom Cruise? What’s happening?’ And then I saw her like three years later and she had a kid.”
Ouch. That had to hurt a little!
After that, Katie Holmes quickly went under the radar and Holmes got pregnant soon after the wedding.
Then a whole mess of speculation as to what was going on inside Katie Holmes’ relationship with Tom Cruise began swirling around. Of course, there was the Scientology thing, and many other issues.
When she was asked if she had any sort of speculation about what was going on with Katie Holmes, she admitted only that she was concerned along with the rest of the world.
That’s kind of a crummy way to end a friendship.
