Amanda Knox is engaged. The young woman at the center of the Meredith Kercher murder case in Italy is trying to put the pieces of her life back together in the United States. Knox is engaged to marry musician Colin Sutherland. A date hasn’t yet been set.
Meredith Kercher and Amanda Knox were roommates in a small town in Italy. Kercher was from the U.K. When she was murdered back in 2007, Amanda Knox and her then-boyfriend were arrested and tried for the murder. An appeal eventually set Knox free in 2011, but in 2014, the Italian court system reinstated the guilty verdict.
Amanda Knox and her fiance have reportedly known one another since middle school, but only started dating since she ended a relationship with another musician last year.
Knox earned her bachelor’s degree in creative writing at the University of Washington last year, and is now employed as a freelance journalist and editor in Seattle. Her attorneys have appealed the latest guilty verdict in Italy, and she will learn the fate of that appeal some time in March.

In the meantime, this news of her engagement is no doubt a very bright light in the lives of Amanda Knox and her family. Her family members have long suffered right along with her throughout this lengthy ordeal.
Many people–even here in the U.S. still believe Amanda Knox is guilty of murdering Meredith Kercher. Do you believe that is the case? Or do you think she was a scapegoat in a case that was botched more than once on behalf of the Italian investigators?
