Carmen Dell’Orefice is stunning at 83 on the cover of a special issue of New You magazine.

The 5’9” towering beauty currently holds the title of the industry’s oldest working supermodel.

Carmen Dell’Orefice has maintained a modeling career for 70 years, but says that she has had more magazine covers in the last 25 years than ever before.

“Today I am in a territory that business considers unmarketable: age and white hair. Slowly, however, I started to own that territory little by little because I stood up for age,” said Carmen Dell’Orefice.

It’s a good thing she did. In an age where women live longer, an average of 86, the fashion and wellness industry is looking at a more mature crowd to pander to.

As a matter of fact, Helen Mirren, 69, and longtime model Twiggy, whose real name Lesley Lawson, 65, are both modeling for L’Oreal Paris.

This is good news for Carmen Dell’Orefice, as she doesn’t seem to be going away soon and will likely have many more jobs lined up.

She still looks fantastic at her age and is still slim and healthy. She credits that to her high metabolism and admits that she never really had to try to lose weight, even though she has a love/love relationship with ice cream.

Carmen Dell’Orefice said, “I could have gotten into trouble with food in my lifetime because I love to eat, but I was given a free pass because I metabolize food well.”

She added, “I’ve had my issues with ice cream when I was younger. Friends will open my freezer today and say, ‘My God, who eats all this ice-cream?’ It stays frozen just in case. That is my money in the bank. It gives me a feeling of security. One would think clothes would do it for me — but no, it’s ice cream.”

Well, at least ice cream is cheaper.

Ruchel Louis Coetzee, co-executive editor of New You, said of her, “Carmen is the embodiment of being able to do anything you want no matter what age you are.”

Coetzee added, “She defies age.”
