Allison Williams spoke with Seth Meyers during a question and answer session at the 92Y in New York on Wednesday, and as one would expect, the topic turned to her famous dad, Brian Williams. Brian Williams, of course, was suspended for six months from NBC’s Nightly News, after admitting he falsely retold a story about being in a helicopter that came under enemy fire.
The Girls and Peter Pan Live! star wants everyone to know that her father is trustworthy.
“This has been a really hard time. We have also been feeling very lucky, counting our blessings. We have our health. We have each other. It’s been incredible to experience the outreach from people you love, family, friends, and then people we don’t even know, strangers, just reaching out saying we want him back on TV,” Allison Williams said.
“It’s been tough, though–obviously toughest on my dad, who’s bearing the full burden of responsibility for it,” she added.

Allison Williams made it unequivocally clear that she is in her dad’s corner throughout this ordeal.
“My dad has always been there for us 100 percent of the time, even sometimes before we knew we needed him. And so this, to be here for him, is the least we can do,” she sad.
“One thing the experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He’s a really good man. He’s an honest man. He’s a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism. And yes, he’s a really good dad,” she said. “I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I’ve tested him on that.”
“I can’t wait for him to be back on TV and I know many of you guys feel that way,” Allison Williams said at the end of her conversation with Seth Meyers.
Do you think Brian Williams will ever return to NBC’s Nightly News desk, or has too much wander passed under that proverbial bridge for that ever to happen?
Is there any way that Allison Williams going to bat for her dad might help him?

Sadly, Allison has postponed her wedding to fiance Ricky Van Veen in light of her father’s suspension. She put her wedding plans on hold once before–for her role in Peter Pan Live!.
Hopefully the Brian Williams situation doesn’t throw a wrench into Allison Williams’s long term plans.
