Teen Mom star Amber Portwood is engaged. MTV confirmed just over a week ago that Matt Baier proposed, and that Amber Portwood said yes.

Amber Portwood stars in the upcoming Teen Mom OG, a reunion of the original girls (hence the ‘OG’) from the first season of the series about pregnant teens or young teen mothers. In fact, last week’s trailer for the show highlights Matt’s proposal. In the trailer, however, it’s unclear as to how Amber Portwood responded.

Portwood confirmed her engagement to MTV, however.

“We are very happy,” she said. “I’ve never felt this way about somebody else in my life.”

Some people wondered if Matt Baier proposed to the Teen Mom simply as a way to boost ratings.

“I don’t stage things for [the cameras],” Portwood said on Monday. “I live my life. MTV follows me–I don’t follow them. Everything that is seen on Teen Mom OG is our lives, and this is the way it is. We’ve never tried to do anything to please others. It’s our lives to help others–it’s not just for TV.”

“I think people are trying to compare this relationship with mine and Gary [Shirley]’s in the past, and it doesn’t even compare,” the Teen Mom added. “People just need to accept that I’m happy, and I have a good life with my fiancé now.”

Amber Portwood has a daughter with her former boyfriend Gary Shirley.
