Julianne Hough once again reiterated her deep regret for donning blackface as part of her 2013 Halloween costume.
What began innocently enough turned into a regret that has lingered in the heart and mind of the Dancing With the Stars judge.
For her 2013 Halloween costume, Julianne Hough chose to channel Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, portrayed on the show by Uzo Aduba, from Orange Is the New Black.
The costume came compete with blackface, for which Hough apologized back in 2013.
“I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba [who plays Crazy Eyes], and the character she has created,” Hough tweeted back in 2013. “It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.”

However, in a recent interview with Allure magazine, Julianne once again apologized for the faux pas, promising to remember the lesson learned.
“Ignorance is sometimes not bliss,” Julianne Hough told Allure. “I really had no idea what I was doing, and it was all out of fun and respect for the character. I don’t even know how to talk about it because it’s such a sensitive topic. It makes me so sad to think that I was that dumb. I learned a big lesson.”

Hough, 26, was widely criticized for her choice of costume from stars and non-celebrities alike when the photos of her in the costume surfaced online in 2013.
Uzo Aduba called the costume choice “unfortunate,” but encouraged people to just let it go following Hough’s initial apology.
It’s obvious from Julianne’s second apology that the incident has bothered the dancer, singer and actress.
