Ben Stiller took to Twitter Monday to thank fans for their “kind words” following the death of his mother, Anne Meara.

“Thank you so much for all the kind words about Anne,” tweeted Ben Stiller. “All of us in our family feel so lucky to have had her in our lives.”

Ben Stiller’s mother, Anne Meara, 85, who was one half of the famed husband‐and‐wife comedy team Stiller & Meara, died on Saturday.

Ben Stiller and her husband, Jerry Stiller, 87, announced the news via the Associated Press that Meara had died. No other details of her death were provided.

“The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long,” the statement said.

Along with Ben Stiller, Anne Meara, who was a four-time Emmy Award nominee, also is survived by their oldest child, actress Amy Stiller, and several grandchildren.

“Anne’s memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Amy, son Ben, her grandchildren, her extended family and friends, and the millions she entertained as an actress, writer and comedienne,” said the family in a statement.

Anne Meara and husband Jerry Stiller made their mark on the Ed Sullivan Show and went on to enjoy a lengthy comedic career together.

Anne Mears also had recurring roles on numerous TV series, including ALF, King of Queens and Sex and the City. Her films credits include The Out of Towners, Fame, Awakenings and Night at the Museum, which was directed by her son, Ben Stiller.
