Evidently Netflix has been pleased enough with early audience reaction to move forward with more.

Variety shares a quote from Kauffman: “Let me say, it’s so awesome to do a show on Netflix. Because two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, ‘We’d like to do a season two.’ So yes, there is a season two. We have Ted [Sarandos] and Miley to thank.”
Fonda and Tomlin recently spoke out about their unhappiness with the show’s male stars getting paid the same amount as them, given that they are the focal point of the show. It’s unclear if they were unable to get that changed for the second season, though it seems likely.
All 13 episodes of Grace and Frankie: Season 1 are available to stream on Netflix. The show has garnered mixed reviews from critics, though Metacritic’s user reviews trend positive.
