Margot Robbie just celebrated her 25th birthday on the set of Suicide Squad. The film does not hit theaters until August, 2016, but on-set news and pictures are followed more closely than any Star Wars film.
The cast of the film includes: Robbie, Jared Leto, Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, Jai Courtney, Scott Eastwood, Ben Affleck, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Common.
Margot Robbie previously starred in The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, earning attention for holding her own admirably in the Martin Scorsese film.
When Margot Robbie posted to Instagram that she had been given a massive birthday cake by her Suicide Squad castmates, the picture made the social media rounds quickly, thanks to comic book fans who are hungry for any news from the set.
But soon the question soon arose: What kinds of gifts did Robbie get?
Robbie revealed balloons that she received from her friends in the Squad.
But, given the kinds of gifts that she has gotten in the past, fans are sure there must be something more we have not been told.
A few weeks ago, we learned that Jared Leto, who plays The Joker in the film, sent Robbie and other castmates gifts while he was away from the set. Adam Beach, who plays Slipknot in the film, revealed:
“He sent [Margot Robbie] a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it—a live rat. It was beautiful. Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter.”
That rat was named “Splinter” by the rest of the cast. He was passed around among the cast and became an unofficial mascot. There is even talk that he may make a cameo appearance in the film.
The rat eventually came to reside with Guillermo del Toro in Toronto, where Suicide Squad is filming. Del Toro said the rat has been renamed, and is doing well.
“The rat is living with us in Toronto and he, and his massive ballsack, provide the house with great cheer and joy! We have re-named him Venustiano.”
If Margot Robbie got another macabre gift from Jared Leto or anyone else, she isn’t telling yet.
