Team communication tool Slack just got better at team communication. It’s a minor adjustment, but one that make things a lot less annoying for people on the receiving end of broadly targeted messages.

In Slack, a user can type “@everyone” when they want to direct a message at the entire team. Now they can type “@here” to direct a message specifically to those who are online. That means you don’t have to bother EVERYONE even if they’re not working or…you know, sleeping.

Users seem to appreciate the addition.

Another new feature is the ability to type /mute to mute and unmute a channel.

Last week, the company announced emoji reactions, which enable you to share what you think about things with a thumbs up, a smiley face wearing sunglasses, a pile of feces, etc. More on all of that here.
