Michelle Duggar has reportedly suffered a mental breakdown following her eldest son Josh’s molestation scandal, and took to the family blog to write about feeling overwhelmed.
Michelle allegedly wrote on the blog that she feels “inadequate” and listed all the things she has to get done, saying she doesn’t think she can do them all.
“Feelings of being overwhelmed flooded my mind. I cried aloud, ‘LORD I NEED YOUR HELP, I can’t do it all! I feel so inadequate!’ Diapers, dishes, laundry, meals, clean up, school lessons, baths, hugs, kisses, correction…My list seemed to go on and on.”
Michelle and her family have been at the center of a lot of attention in recent months after police reports involving Josh Duggar were leaked online in May. The reports detailed sexual abuse that occurred in the Duggar home between Josh and some of his sisters when they were underage and he was just 14, and since then !9 Kids And Counting has been pulled from the air and the family has lost a lot of sponsors and supporters.
The family posted a statement last month about the show going off the air, saying that their hope was to help other families by sharing their own painful story.
“It is our prayer that the painful situation our family went through many years ago can point people toward faith in God and help others who also have lived through similar dark situations to find help, hope and healing, as well. We appreciate the love, support, prayers and kindness extended to us by many of you. You have deeply touched our hearts and encouraged us, during this time,” the statement read.
The Duggar family made headlines earlier this year when cousin Amy shared her very intimate engagement photos with People Magazine. Per the rules according to the Duggar family’s religion, public displays of affection are strictly forbidden before marriage, and young couples are encouraged to give side-hugs only. As fans of the show will know, Amy has always marched to her own beat and doesn’t adhere to the family’s strict rules, but the photos still made waves.
The cancellation of the Duggar’s show doesn’t mean they’ll fade out of the spotlight; Michelle and Jim Bob have started their own studio and are sharing videos of the family’s life on their own YouTube channel.
