Lisa Bonet had no idea of what her former television dad allegedly did to dozens of women during his time on the hit sitcom, according to her daughter Zoe.
Bonet, who played Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show for several seasons, is reportedly “disgusted” by Cosby’s alleged actions, which came to light earlier this year after comedian Hannibal Buress spoke about the so-called well-known fact in Hollywood that Cosby drugged women and sexually assaulted them. So far, more than fifty women have come forward with similar tales, including famous actresses and models. Some, like Lisa and her co-stars, trusted Cosby and looked up to him as a father figure. However, Lisa wasn’t aware of any sexual abuse at the time.
“She’s just as disgusted and concerned as everyone else is. But I don’t think she has any insight. It’s news to her as well,” Zoe told the Guardian. (She is) a very straightforward person. If there was something she felt the world needed to know that would help this case or help any women who had been abused, she would say something.”
Raven-Symone took to Twitter earlier this year to clear Cosby’s name regarding rumors that he molested her during her time on the show, writing: “I was NOT taken advantage of by Mr. Cosby when I was on the Cosby Show. I was practically a baby on that show and this is truly a disgusting rumor that I want no part of! Everyone on that show treated me with nothing but kindness. Now keep me out of this!”
However, she later told guests on The View that if proof was given that put forth no grey area regarding Cosby’s guilt, she wouldn’t hold back her opinions.
“I don’t really like to talk about it that much because he’s the reason I’m on this panel in the first place. He gave me my first job. But at the same time, you need the proof, and then I’ll be able to give my judgment here or there. And now there are real facts. More people can come up.”
Lisa Bonet has not spoken publicly about the allegations against Cosby; so far, he has not been charged with anything.
