Ronda Rousey specializes in setting records and breaking barriers.

A fighter since she was 11, Ronda Rousey has done the unthinkable time and time again, starting with an Olympic medal and subsequently acquiring her famous head coach.

In fact, that almost didn’t happen.

According to Edmond Tarverdyan himself, it was a hard sell. He said on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, “I’ll be honest: When she came in, I didn’t want to train her because I had my hands full. I was like, ‘What’s this girl doing? What is she going to do with this? Is she serious? Is she not?’”

He added, “Within the three, four months she was in my gym, I would tell her to go stay on the bag, and she would hit the bag and really hit the bag until I paid attention to her again.”

It was a good thing he finally paid attention to Ronda Rousey and took her under his wing. Now, she is a MMA superstar, the first female UFC fighter, and most recently the biggest crowd attraction as she headlines UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia.

In fact, Ronda Rousey has the chance to break the all-time attendance record for a UFC fight event. In a stadium that seats 50,000 in Melbourne, UFC officials are expecting to bring more chairs in to accommodate 70,000 fans.

Ronda Rousey said of the event, “Of course it’s a lot of pressure, but you know what, I’ve been able to accomplish things that seemed impossible before and this doesn’t seem like the most impossible endeavor I’ve gone after.”

She added, “I think that we’re entirely capable of doing that and I’m not done making history yet.”

However, Ronda Rousey admitted, “I kind of reassess after every fight, but I think it’s good for people to know that I’m not going to be around forever either. I’m going to beat Holly and I’m going to reassess.”

She added, “There’s going to be a point where I’m ready to move on with my life and I’d rather plan for it instead of fall into it like I did after the Olympics. You better buy every, single pay-per-view because that might be my last one.”
