The Duggars reportedly left cousin Amy’s wedding early–as soon as the music started, according to a source–when it went from “classy to trashy”.
The Duggar family made an appearance at the ceremony, which was held at a farm in Arkansas, without eldest son Josh. His wife Anna was there with their children, however, and Amy said she went out of her way to make Anna and her aunt Michelle feel comfortable and at home. The embattled ultra-conservative television family took off when the dancing began, and Amy said she and the wedding party were able to let their hair down a little.
“The lights went down, the disco lights came up. Everybody kicked off their shoes. It went from classy to trashy real quick, which was the best!” Amy told People.
Amy said recently that while she was excited to finally be married, she was especially happy to legally change her last name from Duggar to King, distancing herself from the family after so many scandals have plagued them.
Josh Duggar recently admitted to cheating on wife Anna after his email address was included in the information leaked by hackers in the Ashley Madison scandal; before that, he made headlines when police reports were shared online showing that Josh had sexually molested several underage girls–including his sisters–when he was 14 years old. Since then, he’s stayed out of the public eye, resigned from his job at the Family Research Council, and allegedly checked into a long-term rehab facility.
The scandals rocked the Duggar family and saw their successful TLC reality show cancelled in the wake; sisters Jessa and Jill were rumored to have been in talks to get their own spinoff show, but now it’s looking like that won’t happen. Jill and her new husband Derick have taken up missionary positions in Central America and are traveling with their baby boy, Israel, while Jessa and husband Ben are expecting their first child soon.
