Periscope Gets Big Improvement With Web Profiles

Periscope, Twitter’s live-streaming video service, announced the launch of new web profiles enabling people to go to periscope.tv/username to see all recent broadcasts from that user.

This should be a huge part of making Periscope more accessible to people and making it easier to find streams you really want to watch. It should also help those wanting to promote streams, as they can just give audiences their profile to tell them where to find them.

“If Sam Sheffer is live, you’ll never again have to scramble to find the link to his broadcast,” Periscope says in a blog post. “You can just go to periscope.tv/SamSheffer. We think it’s really important for broadcasters to have a home on the web, and today’s launch is just the beginning.”

Funny or Die, Zagat, AJ+, surfer Mitch Oates, and Sky News journalist Mark Stone are among the profiles Periscope is highlighting.

Now, Periscope needs a good way to discover profiles of interest. Hopefully that isn’t too far off.

Earlier this month, Periscope introduced landscape mode and the ever-important Facebook sharing option.

Last month, Periscope said that 40 years of video were already being watched on a daily basis. That’s pretty impressive considering how young the service still is.
