Amanda Seyfried has joined the cast of Twin Peaks, an upcoming revival of the 1990s show that boasted a cult following. So far her exact role is a closely guarded secret, but she is set to appear in several episodes of its inaugural season. The new Twin Peaks will air on Showtime.
Known for roles in films including Mean Girls and Ted 2, Amanda Seyfried has a bit of a cult following all her own. She has graced the small screen, too, in shows including Veronica Mars and Big Love. She starred in the daytime dramas All My Children and As the World Turns.

Kyle MacLachlan starred in the original Twin Peaks, and will star in the upcoming show, too. He played the role of Special Agent Dale Cooper, who tried to solve the murder of Laura Palmer–played by actress Sheryl Lee. MacLachlan quit the series, citing money–or lack thereof–as the reason. It’s uncertain if Kyle MacLachlan will resume the same role he played back in the 1990s.

In addition to Amanda Seyfried and Kyle MacLachlan, there will be a mix of new and old actors on Twin Peaks. Showtime’s David Nevins teased earlier this summer that more of the original show’s cast will make comebacks in the new show.
