Kris Jenner says she still feels guilty, even 20 years after the death of her good friend Nicole Brown Simpson.

In a new documentary called The Secret Tapes of the O.J. Case: The Untold Story, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians matriarch says her guilt stems from seeing overt signs of domestic abuse, and about not being able to save Nicole from it.

“I will always feel guilty that I didn’t pay more attention and didn’t speak up when I thought anything was wrong or asked her more, ‘Do you want to talk about it?’” Kris Jenner says in the documentary.

It was back in June of 1994 when Nicole Brown Simpson was stabbed to death. Kris Jenner’s late husband Robert Kardashian represented O.J. Simpson a year later in the what many called the trial of the century.

“At the end of Nicole’s life, I think she finally was at a place where she knew she had to be more vocal with what was going on and she was in trouble,” Kris Jenner says. “The one thing she would tell all of us by the time, you know, it got to that level was, ‘He’s going to kill me and he’s going to get away with it.’”

These days Kris Jenner is coping with her ex-husband Bruce Jenner-turned Caitlyn Jenner–and despite the media claims that she is unsupportive toward Caitlyn, she is likely suffering, too.

Fans can check out Kris Jenner in the upcoming documentary about the O.J. Simpson case, The Secret Tapes of the O.J. Case: The Untold Story, on September 30 at 8 p.m. on LMN.
