Demi Lovato is acting on the message she shares in her new album “Confident.” The singer and girlfriend of actor Wilmer Valderrama goes totally nude and sans any makeup in a series of photos released on Friday in Vanity Fair.
This confidence was a long time coming to Demi Lovato, who struggled with not just alcohol and substance abuse, but with an eating disorder, too. To achieve the kind of confidence required to pose completely nude, one must feel comfortable in one’s own skin. That’s a huge feat.

Demi Lovato defies stereotypes, too. Her body isn’t rail thin or perfect by Hollywood standards. Her beauty shines through as she shares her healthy, gorgeous body in these photos. One can almost imagine the pain she suffered washing away as she sits in a bathtub for some of the photos.

Confidence comes with soul-searching, experience, and often with paying one’s dues. Demi Lovato has paid hers. Her new album “Confident” releasing in just over a week following these nude, makeup-free photos can’t be coincidental.

Kudos to Demi Lovato for the odds she has defied and the new path she walks. Her example will no doubt prove to so many young girls and women that beauty isn’t stereotypical.
