Malcolm-Jamal Warner says that Bill Cosby’s actions have tarnished one of America’s most-beloved sitcoms, The Cosby Show.

Warner, who played son Theo Huxtable on the long-running show, thinks that it’s bad for “images of people of color on TV and film” to have a stereotype-killing show like The Cosby Show ruined by the dozens upon dozens of rape allegations leveled against its star, Bill Cosby.

“My biggest concern is when it comes to images of people of color on television and film, no matter what … negative stereotypes of people of color, we’ve always had The Cosby Show to hold up against that. And the fact that we no longer have that, that’s the thing that saddens me the most because in a few generations the Huxtables will have been just a fairy tale,” he told the NY Post.

Malcolm Jamal Warner has spoken to Cosby since the stuff started hitting the fan, he said.

“I think the things that we discussed really have to stay private between us. But it’s just a bad situation all around — for him, for his family, the women, their families, the legacy of the show,” said Warner.

Another star of the show has a different opinion, however.

Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played youngest daughter Rudy Huxtable, think Cosby’s rape allegations can’t take away what many felt for the show.

“You can’t take back the impact that it’s had on generations of kids, and it’s continuing to have such a positive impact on them,” the actress said. “So I feel like the place that it has in people’s hearts is such a nostalgic part of childhood and beyond, it’s going to be difficult to take back those memories.”

The number of women accusing Cosby of sexual assault has topped 50. The comic is testifying on Friday in the latest lawsuit to stem from the allegations.
