Lindsay Lohan is taking a cue from fellow celebrity Kanye West – she has proclaimed her interest in running for political office in the next presidential elections.

Lohan made the informal announcement via her Instagram account on Friday. She posted two photos that have since garnered more than 40,000 likes each since Saturday.

One photo showed herself speaking with someone at a formal dinner with caption that says, “In #2020 I may run for president. Through ups and downs #YESWECAN. Lets do this @kanyewest #truespirits thank your [sic] for inspiring us to be better people.” It came with multiple hashtags that included “#kanyewest2020,” “#lindsaylohan2020 with #34yearsofexperience”.

The second photo shows a black-and-white photo of Lohan and Kanye West with the caption, “The first thing I would like to do as president of ?? is take care of all of the children suffering in the world.???????????????? #queenELIZABETH showed me how by having me in her country.”

Followers of the Mean Girls star gave mixed reactions to her posts, with most of them ridiculing Lohan’s announcement and expressing their disbelief.

The apparent inspiration, West, had previously declared his presidential aspirations in August, in a speech he gave at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

“I don’t know what I finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” West said. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president,” declared West.

Like Lohan, it isn’t clear how serious West is about his political plans. However, his wife, reality star Kim Kardashian confirmed on daytime talk show Ellen that he is, indeed, serious.

Sincere or not, Lohan might encounter difficulty getting the public’s sympathy and approval because of her numerous showbiz controversies and run-ins with the law. It might be too early to ascertain her real agenda behind this announcement, but the public will just have to wait and see how this story unfolds.
