Jessica Jones is one of the most highly-anticipated Marvel shows to come out in quite some time, and likely it’s because of the female lead.
Other than Agent Carter or Supergirl there just aren’t that many superhero shows with female leads like Jessica Jones, especially with the depth and complexity that this show promises.
Jessica Jones is sure to be a relatable, validating experience for women of all walks.
Show runner Melissa Rosenberg said of Jessica Jones the character, “[For Jessica] the superpowers are just a matter of fact. She doesn’t advertise them, but she doesn’t deny them. She doesn’t hide them.”
She added, “What I love about this character is she’s so unapologetically who she is. She’s unapologetic about her sexuality, about her powers, about her drinking, about just about anything. She is who she is.”
Speaking of that sexuality, while Jessica Jones remains unapologetic for it, she also won’t use it to get what she wants.

Jessica Jones herself, Krysten Ritter, made that quite clear, saying, “We never fell into the typical tropes of female P.I. shows. You’ll never see me putting on a short skirt and heels to use my ‘sexuality’ to get what I want. I don’t want to seduce someone to get what I want. I don’t want to play that.”
Jessica Jones is sure to be just about as binge-worthy as any superhero show out there. Weather’s getting cold. Time to wrap up in a toasty blanket and enjoy hours upon hours of Netflix fun!
Jessica Jones will be available starting this Friday! Will you be watching?
