Miranda Lambert has finally opened up about her split from Blake Shelton, calling her ex-husband “amazing.”

In a cover story for Cosmopolitan magazine, the singer conceded that marriage is hard and the couple just couldn’t make it work.

“Marriage is a tough business, and we gave it our best college try,” Miranda toldazine the mag, explaining that she’s still trying to make heads and tails of what happened.

Both Lambert and Shelton have been silent about the details of the split, according to Entertainment Tonight. What may have been surprising to some is how quickly Blake moved on to a new romance with Gwen Stefani.

As for Miranda, she told Cosmo that she is not yet ready to date and a second marriage is no where on her radar. It would seem that in her eyes, Shelton may be difficult to replace.

“I had a great relationship with an amazing man,” Lambert said, “so I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted.”

Before jumping into a new romance, Miranda says she just wants to live life to the full, even if it means wallowing in her sorrow a bit more … or camping.

“Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going, ‘Man, this sucks right now.'”

To sooth the pain of the divorce, Lambert says she will rely on making music.

“I feel the sexiest when I’m in my element, which is playing music,” Lambert said. “It doesn’t really matter what I’m wearing necessarily or where I’m at, just on stage with my band playing music is sort of where I feel like I belong and that makes me feel sexy.”

Miranda Lambert’s full interview with Cosmo hits newsstands on Dec. 3.
