Slack Getting ‘Do Not Disturb’ Feature

Slack is getting a feature that it has been sorely lacking: the ability to turn on Do Not Disturb for those times when you just don’t want to be bombarded with messages during your off hours.

According to a report from The Next Web, the feature will roll out in the next few days.

A help center article from the company says:

Do Not Disturb is not yet available to Slack teams. We made the Admin settings available in advance so teams can set their own defaults ahead of time. Do Not Disturb will be available soon!

Team Owners and Admins can set default Do Not Disturb hours for their team. When Do Not Disturb is enabled, Slack will not send desktop, mobile, or email notifications.

To do so, just click the team name to open the team menu, select team settings, and scroll down to Do Not Disturb. Click that and set the default hours when notifications won’t go out to team members, and save.

When the feature is available, team members will be able to set their own Do Not Disturb hours, and turn the feature on and off as they like.

In other Slack news, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that an enterprise version is on the way early next year.
