Twitter announced the launch of its new Moments offering in the UK – its third country.

Here in the UK, we’re proud to be the first European country to roll out the service, and we pulled together a talented curation team whose sole aim is to bring you the very best of Twitter across the biggest and most fascinating topics.

Twitter is absolutely part of the national conversation in UK across everything from sports to TV to politics to local news and music. Previously you may have felt you could only keep up by following thousands of accounts; with Moments, we do that for you. And while a single Moment is a temporary follow, it’s a great way to find out about fellow users you might not normally connect with. It’s all about making it simpler and easier than ever before to get the very most out of Twitter.

Twitter launched Moments in in the U.S. in October. Moments are curated stories made up of tweets, images, videos, Vines, and GIFs. These are curated by both Twitter and select partners like Bleacher Report, Buzzfeed, Entertainment Weekly, Fox News, Getty Images, Mashable, MLB, NASA, New York Times, Vogue and the Washington Post (more in the future).

Twitter users can access and follow specific stories from a new lightning bolt tab. New stories appear throughout the day and are continuously updated and organized by topics like entertainment, sports, etc.

Shortly after the launch of Moments, Twitter launched Promoted Moments with select partners as a clear way to monetize the new feature.

During a conference call to discuss the company’s disappointing financial results, Twitter talked up Moments as one way it intends to grow its user base, which continues to grow at the rate of a snail’s pace. The Moments feature was the focal point of a recent television ad from the company.

CEO Jack Dorsey noted that it’s still early and the company is collecting feedback on the feature, but that they’ve already seen how it has improved Twitter.He also maintained that rolling the feature out beyond the U.S. is a priority.

Last month, Twitter launched the feature in Brazil – country number two.

In the UK, Moments are curated by Twitter itself, as well as partners including: Premier League, Glamour magazine, The Sun, Have I Got News for You, VICE, Sugarscape, Food Network, Sky News, The Economist, Met Office, Popjustice, Global Radio, Vevo, BT Sport, Empire, Sky Sports, STV, and Buzzfeed UK.

Like in the other territories, Moments will expand to include more partners in time.
