Rohinie Bisesar is the alleged assailant in a stabbing case that rocked the financial district of Toronto last Friday. Bisesar allegedly brought a knife into a Shopper’s Drug Mart and stabbed a random woman, who she didn’t know.

The unidentified woman died on Thursday.

CBC News CA reports that Rohinie Bisesar has ties to the financial district. Her lawyer said during a court appearance on Wednesday that she “seems really sad,” although he didn’t elaborate. He didn’t comment on what–if anything–her current job is there, but added that she “she had quite an impressive resume.”

Rohinie Bisesar graduated from York University’s undergraduate and graduate business programs and worked at several jobs in the financial district in the past. Her lawyer says many of her friends have come forward and expressed their shock at her alleged actions.

Following Wednesday’s appearance, Rohinie Bisesar will remain in custody, likely at a jail in the Milton, Ontario area, Calvin Barry–her attorney–told the media. She is set to appear in court once again on Friday, but Barry explained it could be January before she has a bail hearing, as the court system reduces hours during the holidays.

Rohinie Bisenar was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and carrying a concealed weapon on Wednesday. Now that the victim has died, Friday’s hearing will likely include a change from attempted murder to murder.

This case has made such huge headlines in part because Canada doesn’t see nearly the number of acts of violence as are commonly seen in the United States.
