Twitter-owned short, looping video service Vine announced a new feature that adds a touch of personalization to the service. It’s a new personalized channel that should help users see more Vines they actually care about and/or want to see.
Many get the majority of their Vine views in from those that go viral and end up on blogs and websites or even in YouTube videos. This should help make Vine more of a destination for more people.
In a brief blog post, Vine API engineeer Luis Tandalla writes:
Our home feeds on Vine are filled with posts from the accounts we follow across comedy, music, sports and more. The world of entertainment on Vine extends far beyond our home feeds. There’s a ton of great content created by accounts you may not follow, and we’re bringing those posts to you.
You’ll see a new section at the top of the app, pointing you to the For You channel. Tap it to dive in. This is rolling out first on iOS and will be coming to Android before you know it.
Earlier this week, news came out that Twitter’s Head of Video, Baljeet Singh, is leaving the company. He does not oversee Vine (or Twitter’s streaming property Periscope).
