The Danish Girl has provided Eddie Redmayne with yet another opportunity to win an Oscar. The Theory of Everything star took home the Oscar for Best Actor last year, for his role as Professor Stephen Hawking. He has now been nominated in the same category again.
The biggest question about this nomination for The Danish Girl, is can it beat out The Revenant? Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for the same category as Eddie Redmayne. The Revenant was a big winner at the Golden Globes.

The Danish Girl received a total of four Oscar nods. In addition to Eddie Redmayne’s Best Actor nomination, Alicia Vikander was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category. The Danish Girl also received Oscar nominations for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
The Danish Girl tells the story of Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Elbe–played by Eddie Redmayne–was one of the first known transgender people to undergo sex reassignment surgery.
