Avatar 2 and Star Wars VIII are two of the most highly-anticipated sequels of all time and both are now set to release in the same busy Christmas season.
Avatar 2 was originally scheduled to be released in December of this year, but James Cameron admitted that they had been a little too ambitious with that release date.
The slot that belonged to Avatar 2 in December now belongs to the next Pirates of the Caribbean sequel.
James Cameron said of the reason for extending the date, “There’s a layer of complexity in getting the story to work as a saga across three films that you don’t get when you’re making a stand-alone film.”
He added, “We’re writing three simultaneously. And we’ve done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films. We’re not just going to do one and then make up another one and another one after that and parallel with that, we’re doing all the design. So we’ve designed all the creatures and the environments.”
Sounds exciting!
So, if you’re planning on being bored during the Christmas break after next, go ahead and put Avatar 2 and Star Wars VIII both on the calendar.
