Nikki Bella revealed this week that she will have to undergo surgery on her neck–which some say could potentially end her career–and says that the Total Divas cameras will follow her throughout the process.
“The cameras never stop filming, so you’ll get to see this whole process step by step. Unfortunately, they’re not allowed to go inside doctors’ offices with me, but they’ve been there on the car rides, when I walk in, when I walk out. I even filmed a meeting with one of the doctors. They’re going to be there for the surgery and they’re going to be there for my whole rehab,” Bella said.
Bella says that she owes her health to beau John Cena, who urged her to have the MRI that caught the problem: a herniated disk. Now she faces a very tricky operation with a potentially career-damning outcome.
“I have basically a broken neck, a pretty bad herniated disk. What makes mine a little bit difficult than most people is that I have some disk behind my vertebrae so with a lot of prayers we’re gonna pray that the doctors can get the piece behind my vertebrae with just a bone fusion,” Nikki told E! News.
Nikki says that after her surgery, she will be recovering with as little movement as possible, which means no traveling and no working for quite some time. In fact, she doesn’t anticipate getting in the ring again for at least six months, and probably longer. While the thought of this surgery might be terrifying to some, Nikki says she has faith in her doctors and in Cena, who will help her recover. For her, it’s just another opportunity to show the world how strong she is.
“He always taught me that health is No. 1. Without health, we’re nothing. He’s the reason I got the MRI, and I know he’s the reason I’ll be back stronger than ever. He’s been there for me every step of the way, and he’s helped me make it positive. I honestly don’t know what I would do without him, and I hate that he’s injured, but now I’ll get to have him every day to help me get back. It’s going to be awesome,” Nikki Bella told WWE.
