Last year, we learned that Universal will shoot the sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed back-to-back. Both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have already signed on to reprise their roles in the sequels, but their has been some directorial shifts.
Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Wood has left the project, and James Foley will helm the two sequels. Foley most recently directed numerous episodes of Netflix’s House of Cards, but is also well-known for the films Fear, Glengarry Glen Ross, and The Chamber.
According to star Dakota Johnson, the film gets “kinda scary.”
“We’re gonna start filming that soon…I think it’s gonna be exciting….to go back and develop characters further. The story, is sort of like a thriller now. And it gets kinda scary. It’s awesome,” Dakota recently told Access Hollywood.
Fifty Shades Darker will hit theaters on February 10th, 2017.
