Erik Asla and Tyra Banks surprised fans with a birth announcement earlier this week. The Norwegian photographer and the former supermodel welcomed a baby boy via a surrogate.

York Banks Asla was born via an “angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us,” according to a social media post Tyra Banks shared on Thursday.

“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world,” Banks captioned a photo of a tiny baby hat.

Erik Asla and Tyra Banks have yet to share a photo of their newborn bundle of joy. It could be they’re waiting for the highest bidder, as the war on first baby photos is often waged among publications.

Banks was open in recent months about the angst she experienced when undergoing IVF treatments in her effort to become pregnant. She and Asla kept mum about their use of a gestational surrogate until after their baby was born.

Just about a month ago, Tyra Banks shared a photo of herself with Erik Asla, captioning the shot, “Everyone deserves to be loved like this.”

It certainly appears as though that love is a mutual thing Tyra Banks and Erik Asla share. The welcoming of a baby into their loving home will no doubt make their world complete.

Congratulations to both Tyra Banks and Erik Asla on the birth of York Banks Asla.
