Joe Manganiello, probably best known as Sofia Vergara’s husband and one of the stars of Magic Mike XXL, has signed on to the cast of the History Channel’s upcoming military drama Six.
Taking on the role of Rip Taggart, who Deadline describes as “a gruff, haggard, and aggressive military man who was once the squad leader of Seal Team Six,” Joe Manganiello will soon find his character working in Africa, providing protection to a small village from Boko Haram.

Six is written by William Broyles (Jarhead) and David Broyles, and is inspired by actual military events.
Manganiello stars opposite Barry Sloane in the eight-episode military drama.
In addition to Barry Sloane and Joe Manganiello, Six will star Dominic Adams and Juan Pablo Raba.
Besides Magic Mike XXL, Joe Manganiello also appeared in True Blood. He will also soon appear on the big screen alongside–wait for it–Pee-wee Herman. If that gives you an icky feeling, you’re certainly not alone.
