Nicole Brown Simpson is front and center in the media even though her tragic murder took place more than 20 years ago. With the airing of FX’s new miniseries, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, her murder and the trial that followed have been thrust back into the limelight.

Tanya Brown is the youngest of Nicole Brown Simpson’s sisters, and she is upset with actor David Schwimmer, who plays Robert Kardashian in the miniseries. Her complaint is that Schwimmer met with Robert Kardashian’s ex-wife Kris Jenner in preparation for his role, but never met with the family of Nicole Brown Simpson.

“Well, don’t you think David Schwimmer could have taken an opportunity to meet with the families of the victims if he went out of his way to meet with her?” Tanya Brown said in a recent interview with the Daily Mail, adding that no one from the entire series ever reached out to her family.

“If anything, they should have at least contacted my mom,” she added. “If they wanted an accurate account they should have contacted the family. Period.”

Brown is also upset that the series began on February 2–the anniversary of Nicole Brown Simpson’s wedding to O.J. Simpson.

“It’s all beautifully orchestrated. Nothing happened by coincidence–they thought it all through,” she said. “They just wanted the drama and publicity, but it was completely insensitive to the Nicole’s memory.”

The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story is based on a book by Jeffrey Toobin called The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Tanya Brown was very vocal about Ryan Murphy’s small screen adaptation of the book from day one.

“People forget that two people got brutally murdered–chopped to pieces–and this is not entertainment,” she said in January during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “This is not Hollywood.”

In addition to Nicole Brown Simpson, her friend Ron Goldman died during the same murder.

Do you understand Tanya Brown’s upset over the way this FX miniseries was brought to fruition? Do you agree that Hollywood often puts its needs way ahead of those upon whom some of their stories are based?

Have you been following The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story? What’s your take on the recreation of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, as well as O.J. Simpson’s trial?
