Idris Elba and Naiyana Garth, his girlfriend of nearly three years and wife of his son, have called it quits. A source has confirmed their split to Us Weekly.

It’s uncertain how long the two have been apart, but questions about the two arose when Idris Elba was spotted at the SAG Awards on January 30, sans Garth. Elba took home two awards from the show–Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in Beasts of No Nation, as well as Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for his role in Luther.

A source tells the Daily Mail of the couple’s split, “They’ve kept it very quiet. It’s very sad that this has happened while Idris is experiencing the highest points of his professional career and they can’t celebrate it with each other.”

It is rather interesting that word of Idris Elba’s split from Naiyana Garth comes on the heels of him enjoying a night on the town in L.A. with Naomi Campbell. The two are reportedly just friends, though. They first spent time together in 2014 after working together on a Fashion for Relief charity event alongside the model.

In addition to Luther and Beasts of No Nation, Idris Elba is known for his role in the HBO series The Wire. He also played Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

Hopefully, despite Idris Elba and Naiyana Garth’s split, he is spending plenty of quality time with the son they share.
