Facebook just released an update to its Moments photo-sharing app to support video sharing. Users can now share videos alongside photos.
Moments is one of the apps to survive the closure of Facebook Creative Labs, which housed such ill-fated apps as Slingshot, Rooms, and Riff. Since its launch in June of last year, Facebook says Moments has seen over 400 million photos shared with over 100 million in the last month alone. Clearly it’s gaining momentum.
A representative for Facebook said in an email that the company will launch the ability to include videos in Moments slideshows in the coming weeks.
The new functionality is available on both iOS and Android.
Facebook continues to support increased video functionality in general. Just last week, the company announced Live video streaming for the Facebook Android app, and recently gave marketers improved video performance tracking features.
