Robert Downey Jr.’s son, Indio Downey, completed his drug diversion program and had his cocaine possession conviction dismissed Tuesday by a Los Angeles judge.
TMZ reports that Indio appeared in court with the 50-year-old Iron Man actor by his side.
The 22-year-old younger Downey voiced his gratitude to Judge Lauren Weis Birnstein during the hearing.
“I would like to say I am truly grateful for the experience I had over the last 20 months in recovery,” said Indio. “I’m so blessed to have my life back. I hope to be an inspiration to work with others in the future.”

Indio was arrested in June 2014 after police, who observed him smoking a pipe of while driving in West Hollywood, pulled him over.
The dismissal clears Downey’s record.
Just two months ago, California Governor Jerry Brown pardoned Indio’s dad for his drug convictions.

Entertainment Tonight reported back in June 2014 that Robert Downey Jr. expressed his concerns that Indio had inherited his potential for drug addiction.
“Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it,” said Downey Jr. “Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being. We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s Department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”
