Game of Thrones star Carice Van Houten is going to be a mother soon! Van Houten is expecting her first child with partner, Guy Pearce.
“Carice and Guy are thrilled to be expecting their first child,” Van Houten’s rep said in a statement this weekend. Van Houten, 39, also confirmed the news on social media joking that she is also expecting “shadow baby” jokes from Game of Thrones fans.
“Yes. It’s true. Let the shadow baby jokes begin,” the actress captioned a split-screen photo of herself and the Aussie actor with a baby emoji.
On Twitter, Carice Van Houten told her fans she is ready for their “shadow baby” jokes and soon after, the actress received tons of funny tweets.

@caricevhouten I was going to go with “The night is dark and full of terrors…that will wake me and Guy up…constantly.”

The joke is a reference to Van Houten’s Game of Thrones character Melisandre, a priestess who gave birth to a “shadow” demon who killed many people in the latest season of the hit fantasy series.
This will be Carice Van Houten and Pearce’s first child together. The couple has not officially confirmed their relationship, but they have been seen on numerous occasions together.

Pearce and his wife of 18 years, Kate Mestitz, broke up in October 2015. “Kate and I will always love and support one another and be the best of friends. No-one knows me like Kate does, and we’ll forever be appreciative of our mutual respect. We’ve both grown enormously through our relationship, but sadly, the time has come to part ways,” Pearce said in a statement back in January.
