Google Apps Gets User Policy Management Feature
Written by Chris Crum

After launching multi-domain support a couple weeks ago, Google has now launched user policy management for Google Apps. These features are designed to give IT administrators greater control and flexibility within Google Apps, the company says.

"With user policy management, admins can now segment their users into different organizational units – say marketing, finance and legal or students, faculty and staff – and control access to individual Google services like Docs, Sites and IM for each of those different sets of users," Google’s Kat Eller tells WebProNews.

The functionality can also be used to test applications with pilot users before making them more widely available, as Google Apps Product Manager Adam Dawes notes.

The feature is starting to roll out to Premier and Education edition users. More information about it can be found here.

Google has also launched new data migration tools, SSL enforcement, and more mobile device security controls for Google Apps in recent memory, not to mention the Google Apps Marketplace.
