Google exec Wael Ghonim went missing during the protests in Egypt, and has now been released from government custody in the country. The Wall Street Journal obtained a statement from U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner. 

Ghonim is the company’s marketing manager in that region, and according to the WSJ had helped run social networks that included criticism of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.  

Toner said, "We have indeed received confirmation of his release."
