GitHub has announced the launch of its open source Maintainer Community, a place for maintainers to connect with peers.

While developers often receive most of the accolades, open source maintainers are the unsung heroes of the open source world, maintaining and releasing everything from libraries to apps to operating systems.

GitHub wants to make it easier for maintainers to connect with their peers, support, and learn from each other.

Every day millions of people interact with open source software. But despite its reach, the people behind the software—the ones powering our digital world—don’t always have the community or support they need. To help with this, we are building a private space for maintainers to connect with peers, preview features, and learn from each other!

The Maintainer Community is private, but individuals can request an invite here.
