Apple has signed a new lease for office space in Bengaluru, India, to the tune of $300,000 per month for three floors.

India is growing in importance for the Cupertino company as it looks to diversify its manufacturing supply chain and reduce its dependence on China. According to AppleInsider, the company is leasing additional space in Bengaluru’s Minsk Square.

The leased space includes “totals 1,16,888 square feet across three full floors, and portions of two more.” A significant condition of the deal is that no competitor can lease space in the building. The lease specifically names “Alphabet, Microsoft, Samsung, Xiaomi, Amazon, Huawei, Netflix, Facebook, Spotify, Baidu, and Tencent.”

Apple’s previous lease in Bengaluru for 40,000 square feet of space was specifically for its Design and Development Accelerator program. If the expanded space is also for that team, it’s not surprising Apple doesn’t want competitors in the same building.
