If there was one film that the masses were demanding, it’s one based on the board game Battleship. Personally, I remember watching as Jim Carrey’s Riddler played the famous game in Batman Forever. When he spoke those immortal words “You sunk my battleship!”, I can clearly recall the thought that popped into my little head: Who will make that masterpiece – and can they please make the ships into aliens and/or robots?
Okay, it probably didn’t happen like that, but who wouldn’t want all of their favorite childhood games converted to the silver screen? Stratego? Jenga? The possibilities are endless.
Today, we were given the first look at the upcoming Battleship. It stars Liam Neeson, True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard and Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch (the TV show). It’s directed by Peter Berg of Friday Night Lights (the film) and Hancock fame. Oh yeah, and Rhianna is in it as well.

So Rihanna Is In The Movie Battered Lip… I Mean Battleship.. Hats Off To Her… *claps*
How bad is it that there’s more Battleship in Batman Forever than in the Battleship trailer?
I’m hoping “Battleship” does well so it puts heat on my Rummikub movie. Fingers crossed.
Oh well, it’s a good thing Hollywood has board games to take from since they have run out of video games and books.
