You know how Google has official blogs for many of its products – or at least areas of focus? You have the Official Google Blog, the Gmail Blog, the Google Mobile Blog, the Google Lat Long Blog, the Google Research Blog, etc.

There is no Google+ Blog yet, but Google has put up a page called “What’s new in Google+“. Here, the company tells you to “check back here regularly to learn about the newest developments in the Google+ project.”

At the moment, there’s not much in the way of new information. There are announcements and videos that have previously made their way into the public eye – mostly from Googlers posting them on Google+ and from industry watchers picking them up from there. Still, it’s nice to see these things collected in one place, where we can check for new happenings.

I have to wonder why they went this route, which is buried in the Google+ Help Articles rather than as a blog. RSS feeds would be nice. Still, it should prove to be a useful page for those closely watching the progress of what could be Google’s make or break social project – at least for those Googlers depending on Google+‘s success for bonuses.

The latest on the site, as of the time of this writing, is from 07/26, when Google announced that it made the +1 button faster.

Before that, you get the news about the Google’s approach to the common name policy, the fact that business profiles will be available to everyone in the initial version, the release of the Google+ iPhone app, etc. – you know – the kind of stuff that you would expect to see on an official Google+ blog.
