Maps on iOS may bet getting a lot prettier. News came out over the weekend that Apple has acquired C3 Technologies, which puts out some stunning 3D mapping imagery.
After some previous speculation that Apple may have acquired the company, 9to5Mac was able to confirm this to be the case (though terms are still unknown).

C3 is the latest in a handful of map-related acquisitions, as the company appears to be looking to become much more independent on the map side of things. Previous acquisitions in this space include Poly9 and Placebase.
It will be interesting to see how long Apple’s Maps partnership with Google lasts.
