Late last week we brought you news that Facebook was testing a new photo viewer that looked an awful lot like the one found in Google+. Now it looks like Facebook is beginning to roll out the new look for some users. It doesn’t look like everyone has it yet, but lots of people do. It’s not clear yet whether an actual rollout is underway or Facebook is merely expanding their testing. The image above is what the new photo viewer looks like.
Interestingly, the new photo viewer is rolling out at the same time that many users are reporting that they’re having trouble with Facebook loading slowly. It’s unclear whether the two are related, though.
Reactions to the new photo viewer seem generally positive. Though some are ripping on Facebook for copying Google, most seem to find the new interface more aesthetically pleasing. Here’s what some of Facebook’s users are saying about the new viewer on Twitter:
I am seeing a new, very quick Facebook photo viewer this morning. Anyone else seeing it? I like it so far.
Is facebook all wonky for you? Click on a photo and tell me if the new viewer comes up. I think I like it!
Google+ for a second there.
So, just got a taste of the new photo viewer on Facebook. I thought I was logged in tothe facebook photo viewer changed again? hmmm nice improvement
yuck. Facebook imitated google+’s photo viewer. 100% the same.
Do you have the new photo viewer yet? What do you think of it? Let us know in the comments.
