[UPDATE:] See the mech meet Stan Lee and a little girl.

It’s no secret that San Diego Comic-Con has become more of a spectacle than a convention, and a major part of that spectacle is some of the best cosplay in the world. As the years go by, both professional and amateurs build larger and more complex costumes in a bid for attention on the convention floor and in cosplay contests. This year, however, one costume has raised the bar even higher, and it isn’t likely to be topped anytime soon.

Wired this week posted the reveal of its robot costume. The clip is hosted by Mythbusters’ Adam Savage, who seem genuinely excited to see what this “robot” actually is:

A mech. Stan Winston Studios and Legacy Effects actually built a nine-foot-tall, fully operational mech for Comic-Con. In only 24 days, too.

The costume was commissioned by Wired, YouTube, and Conde Nast. A YouTube mini-series about how the mech was made will air during the upcoming “Geek Week” on YouTube.
